The deficit irrigation (RD) is considered essential for a sustainable olive growing in the Vilariça Valley (Trás-os-Montes) region where water is a scarce factor. We intend to implement different strategies for deficit irrigation in order to identify an irrigation strategy allowing better efficiency of water use.
Related aspects are studied, like the different strategies influence on the mechanical harvesting performance and the potential risk of soil erosion. Olive oil quality is studied.
