Following the success of Mountains 2016 (Bragança, Portugal) and Mountains 2018 (Nova Friburgo, Brazil), Mountains 2020 will be held in Praia, Cabo Verde, from 23 to 27 of November 2020. Mountains 2020 will stress how scientific research can contribute to innovative science-based solutions for challenges that mountain areas face today, with a focus on climate risks, food security, environmental degradation and human migration. Organizing Mountains 2020 in the Atlantic archipelago of Cabo Verde, a group of mountainous islands, creates an extraordinary opportunity to link scientists and stakeholders concerned with mountains and islands and consider how to jointly tackle threats and challenges for their sustainable development.
