Miguel Vilas Boas, CIMO-IPB researcher, elected President of the Scientific Committee on Beekeeping Technology and Quality (2024-2027)
CIMO-IPB researcher Miguel Vilas Boas, Portugal, was elected President of the Scientific Committee on Beekeeping Technology and Quality for the 2024-2027 term, replacing Etienne Bruneau, Belgium, who held the position for the last 14 years. Portugal and CIMO-IPB will now have an active voice in the APIMONDIA Executive Committee, acting in the development of beekeeping and defending the interests of beekeepers. The election was held in the last APIMONDIA 2023 during the general assembly of the World Beekeeping Federation meeting, where the representatives of the scientific and regional commissions were also indicated.
The 48th International Beekeeping Congress, APIMONDIA 2023, took place from September 4th to 8th in Santiago de Chile with the presence of 3800 participants from 80 countries. Over the course of five days, 230 oral communications and 430-panel communications were presented, focusing on all aspects of global beekeeping. Moreover, 30 round tables accompanied these works to discuss topics such as fraud or the global market for bee products.
