Forest fire detection project in the spotlight

The project SAFe – Forest Alert System – recently selected for funding by the “Fundação La Caixa” under the Promove programme, has been covered by the national newspaper Público. Accessible and flexible detection and communications technology will be developed to be used in forest observation and detection of fires in the Nogeira mountain range. This technology is expected to be later made availale to other areas in the country and abroad. SAFe is lead by CeDRI, the Research Centre in Digitalization and Intelligent Robotics, at IPB, and has the participation of CIMO and INESC Tec.
